PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor laser device in which laser output is enhanced efficiently while constituting a simple structure without using a complex optical member such as a lens mechanism or a taper structure. SOLUTION: Thickness of an optical propagation layer 12 and the thickness of an optical waveguide layer 23 have such a relation as the beam spot diameter in basic mode at the laser exit end face of a laser portion a substantially matches the beam spot diameter in basic mode propagating an optical circuit portion b.
