PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new carbonic ester advantageous as an industrial carbonyl source. SOLUTION: The new carbonic ester is represented by formula(1). A method for producing an aromatic carbonic ester is also provided, comprising conducting a transesterification between the above carbonic ester and the corresponding aromatic hydroxy compound.
