PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate tasks required prior to projection, in terms of an image projection device and a projecting direction control method. SOLUTION: The main body 21 of a projector includes a CPU and three distance measurement sensors. The three distance measurement sensors are disposed on the upper, right and left sides of a projection lens 201 disposed in the front face of the main body 21 of the projector. The left and right distance measurement sensors are at angles of +30°and -30°to an optical axis, respectively. The CPU compares the measurement values of the measurement distance sensors and determines, based on the smallest measurement value, the wall surface nearest from the present position. In addition, the CPU rotates a rotating base 102 by controlling a rotating base motor 105, and projects an image onto the nearest wall surface as a projection screen. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
