PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose method for error correction and error detection for reading out stored information data from a storage device requiring restricted expansion of processing resources and accordingly preferably requiring a limited amount of hardware resources. SOLUTION: In the method for error correction and/or error detection for reading out (3-5) of the stored information data (D(8:1)) from the storage device (M), code data (C(4:1)) is read out from the storage device (M) in addition to the information data (D(8:1)), syndrome data (S(4:1)) is formed from the information data (D(8:1)) and the code data for determining an error and/or an error position in the read out data, in the error position determined for multiple error detection, whether the information data (D(8:1)) or the code data (C(4:1)) related to a related storage position is all zero or all 1 is verified.
