<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for removing carbon monoxide, which has a high activity at a low reaction temperature, has high safety and is excellent in selectivity and service life. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst for carbon monoxide methanation has a two-layer or more multilayer structure and has the carbon monoxide methanation highest active temperature which is successively made higher toward an inner layer from an outer layer. Ratio of an outermost layer in the catalyst lies in the range of 5-70 wt.%. The outermost layer is made by depositing at least one kind of metal selected from 4B group, 6A group, 7A group and 8 group onto a carrier of at least one kind of oxide or multiple oxide selected from NiO, CoO, Co<SB>3</SB>O<SB>4</SB>, ZrO<SB>2</SB>, CeO<SB>2</SB>, Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, TiO<SB>2</SB>and SiO<SB>2</SB>, and a layer just under the outermost layer (second layer) is made by depositing or compounding at least one kind metal selected from 4B group, 6A group, 7A group and 8 group on a metal oxide carrier. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
