PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character input device, a character input method, and a program for character input which enable a user to quickly input alphabetic characters without watching keys, when inputting characters into an information processor. SOLUTION: An "A column" to a "RA column", and "WA, WO, NN" are assigned to each of ten keys composed of "0" to "9" keys, "*" key, and "#" key for inputting kana (Japanese syllabary) characters. Alphabetic codes are assigned to the "A column" key to "WA, WO, NN" key, according to an initial of Japanese reading of each of alphabets and symbols.
