The method involves consecutively detecting and conveying overall accumulated final energy consumption of a real estate with an utilizable unit to an evaluation unit (2), which determines overall costs based on the final energy consumption. The overall costs are converted into costs of the utilizable unit and/or consumption place based on hot water consumption detected in the utilizable unit by a heat cost allocator (3). The overall costs are displayed in a display unit for a user of the utilizable unit. An independent claim is also included for a system for determining and/or displaying heating costs.
