A metal supported solid oxide fuel cell having a fuel electrode formed by impregnation of a YSZ layer is provided to have superior mechanical strength and thermal impact resistance and high ionic conductivity sufficient to be used as a replacement energy resource by repeatedly impregnating and heating the porous YSZ layer in Ni solution after calcining the layer. The fuel cell is manufactured by the steps of: forming a thick layer comprising YSZ powder and a foaming agent on the surface of a porous metallic support and a YSZ thick layer; simultaneously calcining both of the thick layer and the YSZ thick layer at 1350-1450deg.C under reduction atmosphere to form a sintered body; impregnating the sintered boy in an aqueous Ni solution, drying the impregnated body at 100-500deg.C then heat treating the dried body at 800 to 1000deg.C under inert atmosphere; repeating these continuous processes to form a fuel electrode fabricated of Ni and YSZ composite on the surface of the metallic support; then forming air electrodes based on LSM and LSCF to complete formation of a unit cell. |
