ANTITUSSIVE COMPOSITION CONTAINING EXTRACT OF PLANT OF GENUS BIDENS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antitussive composition or cough prevention composition having low side action and effectively suppressing chronic cough and other cough reflex.

SOLUTION: High cough suppressing effect is found in an extract, especially hot water extract of a plant of the genus Bidens. Action to inhibit the intake of anandamide which is an endogenous substance of a capsaicin receptor or a capsaicin receptor antagonistic action is supposed to be involved in the action mechanism of the extract.
