PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing finer metallic particles than ordinary fine metallic particles. SOLUTION: This production method includes reducing ions of the metal of the fine metallic particle, in a reaction system of a liquid phase including the ions, with acetic acid with an 8 times or higher concentration than the ions by a mole ratio, or 2-propanol with a 50 to 105 times higher concentration to make the ions deposit as the fine metallic particles. The production method is preferably adopted in a process for producing the fine metallic particles formed from at least one metal selected from the group consisting of platinum, rhodium, palladium, ruthenium, iridium, gold and silver.
