A vehicle a.c. sync generator (alternator) includes a one-way coupling with a cylindrical hollow outer coupling part, an inner coupling part, arranged coaxially to the outer one, and a roller arranged between the outer and inner coupling parts, between which is transferred a torque in a given direction by the one-way coupling, the latter idling and transferring no torque in the direction opposing the given direction, if the torque is greater than a given idle start torque. A belt pulley wheel can develop a torque exceeding the given idling starting torque in a direction opposing the direction of rotation, without slip of the pulley belt. A rotor is used to transfer the pulley wheel torque on to the rotary shaft in the given direction of rotation.
