A rubber composition for tire sidewalls is provided to allow a tire sidewall to exhibit a shape memory behavior at a softening point of 75 deg.C while maintaining or improving other physical properties. A rubber composition for tire sidewalls comprises: base rubber selected from a blend of natural rubber with synthetic rubber, a blend of different kinds of synthetic rubber or synthetic rubber; and based on 100 phr of the base rubber, 40-70 phr of a shape memory resin comprising an ethylene/alpha-olefin/non-conjugated polyene copolymer bonded to a silicone resin; 40-55 phr of at least one reinforcing filler selected from carbon black, silica, calcium carbonate and talc; and 2.0-3.5 phr of at least one vulcanizing agent selected from sulfur, 4,4-dithiodimorpholine, alkylphenone disulfide, N,N'-dithio-bis-(hexahydro-2H-azepinone-2), tetramethyl-thiuram-disulfide, tetraethyl-thiuram-disulfide and tetrabutyl-thiuram-disulfide.
