PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a needle holder for sewing machine (in particular, for industrial sewing machines) in which needles having different gauges are easily usable without adjusting the needle holder itself. SOLUTION: The needle holder includes a holding device to house a sewing needle and hold the needle in a holding position. The needle holder has an adjustment device for the adjustment of the needle holder in a transverse direction of the sewing needle, in a direction transverse the needle bar. In that case, positions of sewing machine needles having different needle gauges can be secured so that the bottom of a needle groove comes to similar one relative position with respect to a gripper mutually acting with the sewing needle.
