The needle clamp (7) is aligned for receiving a sewing needle (4) to hold the needle at a needle bar (2) in a holding position. The adjusting device is aligned for adjusting the relative position of the sewing needle in relation to a needle protection (11) and to a gripper (6), which belongs to the sewing machine for gripping the thread guided from the sewing needle.
