PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove soil of toner on a fixing device without using cleaning paper. SOLUTION: The fixing device makes a nip N between a fixing film 25 and a pressure roller 26 by pressing the fixing film 25 to a heater 20 by means of the pressure roller 26. Blank paper (sheet for cleaning) P non-subjected to image formation is held in the nip N. The pressure roller 26 is intermittently rotated by a motor 29, and the sheet P is fed one step at a time. Each time it is fed one step, the heater 20 is heated and cooled. It melts soil of toner sticking to the surface of the pressure roller 26, and transfers it to the rear of the sheet by the cooling, thereby cleaning the surface of the pressure roller 26. |
