A service method for charging a recipient by using a mobile communication short message is provided to be usefully applied when one person wants to burden a transmission cost in consideration of financial situation of the other person even in the SMS between persons. A user creates a recipient charging message by using his/her mobile terminal(101), and sends it to a particular number(102). A recipient charging system receives the message through a short message center and detects a recipient charging related information included in the message(201). The recipient charging system checks whether the message is a recipient charging message based on the detected information(202). When the message is a recipient charging message, the recipient charging system creates a recipient charging message reception response request message(203) and transmits it to a recipient terminal through the short message center. The recipient selects whether to receive the recipient charging message(301) and re-transmits the message to the recipient charging system. The recipient charging system checks whether the recipient has approved the reception charging(204). When the recipient has approved the recipient charging, the recipient charging system sets the recipient as a message charging target and transmits the message to the recipient(205).
