<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly adjust the direction of an obstacle detection axis of a radar unit 1 after replacement of the radar unit 1 in an obstacle detection device of the vehicle having the radar unit 1 for detecting an obstacle. <P>SOLUTION: Whenever the adjustment of the obstacle detection axis of the radar unit 1 is normally completed, the same radar ID code as the radar ID code previously stored in a storage section 1a of the radar unit 1 is stored in a storage section 61a of a control unit 61. When an ignition switch 64 is turned on, it is determined whether the radar ID code stored in the storage section 1a matches with the latest radar ID code stored in the storage section 61a.
