PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phosphor paste composition which improves bright room contrast and realizes a screen of high definition, and also to provide its manufacturing method, and a plasma display panel using the composition, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The phosphor paste composition includes a phosphor powder and an organic or inorganic black pigment. Then, the plasma display panel comprises: a first and a second substrates (10, 11) arranged in parallel with a given spacing; a large number of electrodes (12, 15) formed on the opposed face of the first substrate (11) and the second substrate (12); a large number of barrier ribs (17) which form a first, a second, and a third cells (51a, 51b, 51c) being discharge spaces between the first substrate (11) and the second substrate (12); and a phosphor layer (19) which includes a black pigment of an organic substance or an inorganic substance in at least one of the cells out of the first, the second, and the third cells (51a, 51b, 51c).
