PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce erroneous tracking in an object tracking system. SOLUTION: When tracking is started, a tracking section sets the position of a scan region in a photographed image (step S100). The tracking section sets first to eighth candidate regions based on the scan region (step S102). The tracking section binarizes the luminance of the scan region (step S103). The tracking section binarizes the luminance of the first to eighth candidate regions in the next image data (step S105). The tracking section calculates first to eighth determination values based on the binarized luminance (step S106). The tracking section calculates first to fourth coarse determination values based on the first to eighth determination values (step S107). The tracking section determines the moving direction of an object by first determination roughly (step S200). The tracking section determines the moving direction of the object by second determination in detail (step S300).
