PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote monitoring system, capable of preventing unauthorized access through the Internet, coping with various control devices, and easily changing/setting the information of setting the environment of a measuring instrument. SOLUTION: The remote monitoring system reports an abnormal state to a processing server 6 via the Internet 5 and notifies the abnormal state from the processing server 6 to the managing PC 7, when the measuring instrument 2 detects the abnormal state. Furthermore, a control device 3 periodically accesses the processing server 6 to notify the processing server that there is no failure, acquires information regarding the setting environment of the measuring instrument 2 set to the processing server 6 and sets the information of the setting environment to the measuring instrument 2. Since the control device 3 is not connected to the Internet all the times, there risk of being accessed illegally is less, and the information of setting environment from the managing PC 7 can be set to the measuring instrument 2.
