PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration of display quality when adopting a phase development driving system. SOLUTION: A period H for selecting a scanning line of one line is divided into a first half period Sub 1 and a second half period Sub 2, data lines of odd-numbered columns are selected by every three columns over the first half period Sub1 and data lines of even-numbered columns by every three columns over the second half period Sub2. Then, the data signals supplied to three image signal lines 162 are sampled to the selected data lines of three columns. At this point, in a data line selection circuit 150 for determining data lines 114 to be sampled, NAND circuits 1512 of odd-numbered columns are made effective by supply of one of enable signals Enb1-Enb4 in the first half period Sub1 and NAND circuit 1522 of even-numbered columns are made effective by supply of one of enable signals Enb5-Enb8 in the second half period Sub2.
