PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device and a projector which can correctly find out cooling abnormality caused by clogged filters. SOLUTION: This electronic device has a temperature sensor 33 to detect the outside temperatures, a temperature/voltage memory (control information memory 31) to store the outside temperature/maximum drive voltage table 200 showing the relations between the outside temperatures and the maximum drive voltage of the cooling fan 35, a cooling controller 30 to control the cooling, a drive voltage detector (cooling controller 30) to detect the drive voltage of the operating cooling fan 35, a drive voltage deciding section (cooling controller 30) to obtain the maximum drive voltage corresponding to the outside temperature from the outside temperature/maximum drive voltage table 200 and to decide the drive voltage and the maximum drive voltage, and an output to output the predetermined information based on the signals of the cooling controller 30. The cooling controller 30 outputs a signal to make the output to output the predetermined information when the drive voltage deciding section decides that the drive voltage is higher than the maximum drive voltage.
