摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner and an image forming apparatus using the same, while being facilitated to mold a diffracting surface employed for an optical element at low cost, by making optical scans with a stable beam spot diameter, even without making the shape accuracy of the diffracting surface high. SOLUTION: The optical scanner is equipped with a first optical element 2, which shapes the sectional form of a light beam from a semiconductor laser 1, a second optical element 4 which guides a light beam transmitted through the first optical element 2 to an optical deflector 5, and a third optical element 6, which converges a light beam deflected by the optical deflector on a scanned surface 8 to form a light spot and optically scan the scanned surface. At least one among the first, second, and third optical elements is a resin-made lens, and at least one of which is a diffracting optical element. The diffraction optical element has an anamorphic power diffracting surface, formed on a plane substrate as one surface and a rotationally symmetric surface as the surface on the reverse side.
