PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the disinfection performance of a measure against algae, a microbe or the like, without producing a by-product, and also output a purified treated fluid even when an ultraviolet lamp and a protective tube are abnormal. SOLUTION: A water treatment system comprises: an ultraviolet irradiation apparatus 1 which places a plurality of ultraviolet lamps 25 individually contained in the protective tube 26 in a container 20, into which water to be treated flows, and irradiates a fluid to be treated in the container with an ultraviolet ray from the ultraviolet lamp; a protective tube fracture detector 7 for detecting the fracture of the protective tube; a by-pass pipe 5 connecting the upstream side with the downstream side of the ultraviolet irradiation apparatus; disinfectant injection means 10 and 11 provided on the downstream side of the ultraviolet irradiation apparatus; and a water purifying treatment monitor controller having the disinfectant injection means which normally controls so that the fluid to be treated flows into the ultraviolet irradiation apparatus, and when the fracture of the protective tube is determined from the output of the protective tube fracture detector, switches to a by-pass pipe side, transmits a command to inject a disinfectant into the disinfectant injection means and purifies the fluid to be treated.
