<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-refractive-index material comprising inorganic fine particles having a particle diameter of≤20 nm. <P>SOLUTION: Titanium dioxide-alkaline earth metal titanate composite fine particles represented by formula: (1-x)TiO<SB>2</SB>xMTiO<SB>3</SB>are provided, wherein M represents an atom selected from Ca, Sr and Ba, and x is a number of 0.1-0.9. A method for producing highly crystalline titanium dioxide-alkaline earth metal titanate composite fine particles having a primary particle diameter of≤20 nm and controlled photocatalytic activity of titanium dioxide is also provided which includes bringing alkaline earth metal ions and titania sol into a hydrothermal reaction in water in a supercritical or subcritical state. By adopting the method, a high-refractive-index optical material can be produced by combination with an optical polymer without reducing the transparency of the polymer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
