PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve accuracy of welding quality discrimination concerning a welding quality discriminating apparatus and method. SOLUTION: An inter-electrode gap is measured for a unit time. When the value of the inter-electrode gap once rises, then lowers and again rises, it is discriminated as generation of spatters. When the inter-electrode gap lowers without rising after the start of energization, it is discriminated as abnormality of spot positions. After performing stratification to the presence/absence of spatters and that of abnormal spot positions, discrimination of welding quality is performed for each category. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
