<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening/closing mechanism that is free from large impact noise and has a compact damper mechanism, and to provide an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an opening/closing member that opens or closes; a damper gear to which damper force is applied in the closing direction of the opening/closing member; and an intermittent gear connected to the opening/closing member and disposed so as to mesh the damper gear and so as not to mesh the damper gear when the opening/closing member is closed. The damper mechanism includes: a cam rotated integrally with the intermittent gear on the same shaft; and a flange that receives the cam shape of the intermittent gear on the same shaft as the damper gear. In the position where at least one or more teeth of the intermittent gear mesh with those of the damper gear, the cam shape acts in the direction where the shafts of the damper gear is separated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
