PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver for appropriately detecting a specific scene and performing notification or control based on the appropriate specific scene. SOLUTION: The television receiver 100 comprises: a picture signal selector 6 for selecting and outputting a picture signal Pm of a main screen; a picture signal selector 7 for selecting and outputting the picture signal Ps of a subscreen; an audio signal selector 8 for selecting and outputting an audio signal Am of the main screen; an audio signal selector 9 for selecting and outputting the audio signal As of the subscreen; a PinP processor 10 for generating the picture signal Pms in which the picture signal Pm of the main screen and the picture signal Ps of the subscreen are synthesized; a characteristic amount generation part for generating the characteristic amount of the audio signal As of the subscreen; a determination processing part for determining the specific scene when the characteristic amount exceeds a predetermined value; and a control part 17 for controlling each configuration based on a detection result of the specific scene by the determination processing part.
