PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately control noise contained in a field image while suppressing memory capacitance. SOLUTION: A digital camera 10 includes a CPU 30, and an imaging plane of a CCD imager 18 is irradiated with an optical image of a field. The image generated on the imaging plane is read out by a TG/SG 20. The imaging plane is set to a light shielded state by the CPU 30. Furthermore, the imaging plane is set to the light shielded state and then set to an exposed state by the CPU 30. The CPU 30 detects information of fixed pattern noise from black image data read by the TG/SG 20 in association with processing for setting the imaging plane into the light shielded state, and reduces the fixed pattern noise contained in the field image read by the TG/SG 20 based on a result of the detection in association with processing for setting the imaging plane into the exposed state.
