PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device with a detachable operating panel which does not give a stimulus to light to an operator by changing lighting conditions between the time when the operating panel is attached to a machine body and the time when the operating panel is removed. SOLUTION: The display device with the detachable operating panel is mounted on a vehicle; and provided with a display unit capable of being stored/projecting to the machine body, and the operating panel attachable/detachable to the machine body. Lighting is carried out from the machine body to the operating panel when the display unit is stored/projected. A means for detecting an attaching/detaching state of the operating panel, and a control system stopping lighting from the machine body when the means detects that the operating panel is removed.
