PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To furthermore uniformly cool the whole of a main spindle provided inside a main spindle casing of a machine tool. SOLUTION: In the main spindle casing 9 of a machining center, a main spindle cooling cylinder 60 is closely fixed inside a housing 25. A closed space formed by multiple-thread groove portions formed on the main spindle cooling cylinder 60 and the inside peripheral surface of the housing 25 functions as a cooling passage 51 for making cooling air flow from an air supplying portion 100. The cooling passage 51 is formed such that the intervals between mutually neighboring cooling passages 51a to 51e gradually decrease and the area of the passage of the cooling passages 51a to 51e gradually increases from an air inflow portion 64 toward an air outflow portion 65.
