In a process to produce glass bodies, e.g. high-precision glass tubes containing a relatively high proportion of B2O3, molten glass is drawn to a predetermined cross-sectional profile. During hot drawing the developing surface is exposed to a boron compound in vapor or aerosol form discharged via a jet.
