BASE OIL OF REFRIGERATING MACHINE OIL FOR CARBON DIOXIDE REFRIGERANT AND REFRIGERATING MACHINE OIL FOR CARBON DIOXIDE REFRIGERANT

A base oil of refrigerating machine oil for carbon dioxide refrigerant, characterized by containing a complete ester of polyhydric alcohol and fatty acid wherein the ratio of C<SUB>14</SUB>-C<SUB>22</SUB> branched fatty acid is in the range of 40 to 100 mol%. Further, there is provided a refrigerating machine oil for carbon dioxide refrigerant, characterized by containing the above base oil of refrigerating machine oil for carbon dioxide refrigerant. These base oil of refrigerating machine oil for carbon dioxide refrigerant and refrigerating machine oil for carbon dioxide refrigerant when used in combination with a carbon dioxide refrigerant excel in stability and electrical insulation and exhibit excellent properties, namely, appropriate compatibility with refrigerant and, even without any increase of viscosity of base oil, satisfactory lubricity.
