There is disclosed a method of moulding root vegetables to any shape by vacuum forming. Baskets for the catering industry are produced. They are formed using a cup in this example or any shape required into which a carrier (3) is then placed. The membrane (4) is then pushed into the carrier (3) and the vacuum applied the root vegetables are then compressed by the membrane (4) into shape. The carrier (3) is then removed from the cup containing the root vegetables and frozen to facilitate the removal of the baskets in the example from the carrier (3) ready for cooking. |
