A method for reserving operating resources for transmission of source data or varying data rates in a source network, in which a previously determined quality of transmission can be reserved , and in which for the source data flow, source parameters in the form of repetitive sequence with maximum data amounts and associated times, are determined, and from this a minimum bandwidth is determined by division of the total data amount by the total time per sequence, and for a reserved bandwidth which is not less than the minimum bandwidth, is determined by simulation of a buffer amount and optionally the greatest bandwidth. Reservation of the operating resource is achieved by the thus determined flow parameter at the minimum bandwidth, the greatest band-width, the buffer amount and reserved bandwidth. |
