<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric element having reduced distortion to solve the problem that a piezoelectric element having distortion is less durable as it is likely to get damaged due to stress partially concentrated by repeated use. <P>SOLUTION: The piezoelectric element 30 as one example of a laminated piezoelectric element includes a rectangular parallelopiped laminate 31 and a pair of external electrodes 37A and 37B formed on opposite end surfaces of the laminate 31. The laminate 31 is constituted of a basic body 34 consisting of internal electrode layers (electrode layers) 33A and 33B alternately laminated via piezoelectric layers 32, and a pair of protective layers 35 and 36 provided to sandwich the basic body 34 from both end surfaces in its lamination direction.
