The method involves limiting an inner area in an undilated condition using a side wall (6) of a protective cover (4), where the side wall extends upwards from a base (5). The cross section of the inner area is smaller than the cross section of the entire package goods (1). The side wall is drawn over the entire package goods such that the height of the side wall is smaller in ratio to the entire height of the package goods. An independent claim is also included for a protective cover for application with a method for form-stable transformation of the entire package goods.
