A method for establishing the point-to-point protocol channel dynamically in the heterogeneous link layer path is used to establish the point-to-point protocol channel normally when the ATM link layer is converted to the Ethernet link layer, which includes: firstly, according to the request of the user, the Ethernet switching device converts the PPPoA access mode used by the user to the PPPoE access mode and encapsulates the corresponding PPPoA message into the PPPoE data frame; after the PPP connection is established, the upper layer point-to-point communication protocol entity and the user point-to-point communication protocol entity send the response requests and the corresponding response answer message to each other; the response answer message timer is setup, and the PPPoE connection is terminated when none response answer message is detected during the set waiting time. In the communication system access network field, by using the present invention, the PPPoA access mode used by the user to the PPPoE access mode in the Ethernet switching device with the purpose of establishing, maintaining and canceling the PPP channel dynamically.
