A telephone terminal device (10) includes: a detachable USB memory (7) for recording received facsimile data; a modem unit (15) and an NCU (16) connected to a telephone network and transmitting/receiving facsimile data; a facsimile reception signal check unit (31) for detecting a received facsimile signal; a USB memory presence/absence check unit (33) for checking whether the USB memory (7) is attached; and a telephone terminal control unit (32) for performing a pre-programmed process according to presence/absence of the USB memory (7) upon detection of a facsimile signal and causing the USB memory (7) to record the received facsimile data when a facsimile signal is detected and the USB memory (7) is mounted. Thus, it is possible to receive facsimile data with a small installation area by using a telephone connected to the telephone line all the time.
