PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device capable of easily detecting a rectilinear propagating position of steering. SOLUTION: This electric power steering device 10 has a motor rotating angle sensor 80 to detect a periodic rotating position of an electric motor 20 and a rack neutral point recognition means to recognize a neutral pointθa of right and left right rectilinear strokes of a rack shaft 14, and the rack neutral point recognition means 70 drives the rack shaft 14 to right and left right stroke ends by reciprocal rotational control of the electric motor 20 in a stopping state of the vehicle and computes a central value of a relative angular difference of a left end rotating angleθ1 corresponding to the left stroke end and a right end rotating angleθ2 corresponding to the right stroke end as a neutral pointθa of the rack shaft 14 in accordance with a detection result of the motor rotating angle sensor 80 respectively corresponding to the right and left right stroke ends of the rack shaft 14.
