PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an artificially designed antiviral peptide absent in the nature; and to provide an antiviral agent containing the peptide as an essential component. SOLUTION: The antiviral agent contains the artificially designed peptide absent in the nature as the essential component. The antiviral peptide has at least one unit of an amino acid sequence constituted of at least five continuous amino acid residues known as a nuclear localization signal sequence (NLS) or an amino acid sequence obtained by partially modifying the NLS, and at least one unit of an amino acid sequence constituted of at least five continuous amino acid residues known as a nuclear export signal sequence (NES) or an amino acid sequence obtained by partially modifying the NES.
