PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transverse stretching machine for a film which, with an improved withstand load at the time when the bearings contact, prevents the generation of vibration and foreign sounds to reduce noises, has enhanced durability and is capable of a high speed running or a high load running through running the tenter clips smoothly. SOLUTION: In this transverse stretching machine, the laminated body 38 of the steel plates 37 composing the widening part 25 is provided with the joint parts 39, and, on the downstream-side laminated body 41 that along the running direction of the tenter clips 3 is in the downstream side of the joint parts 39, there are integrally formed second guide blocks 42b, 42c that are thicker than the metal plates of the upstream-side laminated body 40. On the outsides of the edge parts of the second guide blocks 42b, 42c, the guiding recess parts 43 are run along the running direction of the tenter clips 3 and, on the downstream-side tips of the metal plates of the outsides of the upstream-side laminated body 40 which is arranged in the upstream side of the joint parts 39, there are provided the engaging projection parts 44 which are releasably inserted in the guiding recess parts 43 and are movable to the running direction of the tenter clips 3 along the guiding recess parts 43.
