PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting device which can directly and easily cut a wheel tread in the installation field of a test machine by arranging a model gauge plate having a copying shape corresponding to a complicated tread shape of a rail wheel or the like. SOLUTION: In cutting the tread of a head tip portion of a rail wheel having the complicated shape, the model gauge plate having the copying shape corresponding to the tread shape, is provided, and a cutting tool and a throw-away tip of the cutting device are interlocked with motions following the model gauge plate, whereby the rail wheel tread can be cut directly in the installation field of the test device, easily and without much labor.
