PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seedling loading apparatus of a rice transplanter enabling easy construction of a driving mechanism for automatically switching the collapse prevention mechanism for seedling mat 39 from the holding state of the seedling mat 39 to the opened state. SOLUTION: The rice transplanter is provided with a seedling table 29 and a planting finger 30. The seedling mat 39 on the seedling table 29 is transferred to the seedling discharging side by a longitudinal seedling transfer belt 38, the seedling table 29 is reciprocated in lateral direction, and seedlings for one hill are raked from the seedling mat 39 on the seedling table 29 by the planting finger 30. The transplanter is further provided with a mat holding member 70 to be thrust into the seedling mat 39 on the seedling table 29 and hold the seedling mat 39, and a holding member driving mechanism 86 actuated by the driving force of a longitudinal seedling driving mechanism 48 for driving the longitudinal seedling transfer belt 38. The belt driving cam 88 for driving the longitudinal seedling transfer belt 38 and the holding member driving cam 92 to transmit the power to the holding member driving mechanism 86 are placed on nearly the same axial line.
