A mobile terminal having an automatic service profile update function and an automatic updating method thereof are provided to avoid linguistic constraints, literal constraints, and Internet constraints by automatically updating the service profile of a mobile terminal according to each area or country when the mobile terminal moves to another area or country which uses a different communication network. A mobile terminal(100) having an automatic service profile update function comprises an SIM(Subscriber Identity Module)(140), a profile operation part(110), and an SMS(Short Message Service) processing part(130). The SIM(140) stores HPLMN(Home Public Land Mobile Network) information of the present network. The profile operation part(110), based on the HPLMN information, confirms whether the mobile terminal possesses a service profile corresponding to the present network. In case the mobile terminal doesn't possess the service profile, the profile operation part(110) configures and outputs phone information. The SMS processing part(130), if the phone information is provided from the profile operation part(110), converts it into an SMS message and transmits it to a preset destination through a wireless network.
