<p>A method for entering into a preservation mode in a UE(User Equipment) is provided to reduce a waste of radio resources and efficiently distribute radio resources by enabling the UE to enter into a preservation mode independently if the UE meets predetermined conditions in case the UE misses an RB(Radio Bearer) release or RRC(Radio Resource Control) connection release message based on a preservation timer. Receiving a measurement control message containing a reporting threshold from an RAN(Radio Access Network), a UE measures the volume of traffic(301,303). The UE judges whether the measured traffic volume is smaller than or equal to the reporting threshold(305). If so, the UE transmits a measurement report message to the RAN, including the measured value(307), and then drives its internal preservation timer(309). If the preservation timer expires(311), the UE transmits an RRC connection release request message to the RAN(313). Receiving the RRC connection release request message, the RAN transmits an RRC connection release message to the UE(315). In response to the RRC connection release message, the UE transmits an RRC connection release complete message to the RAN(317). The UE and the RAN enter into a preservation mode according to the RRC connection release complete message(319).</p> |
