OBSTRUCTION DETECTING SYSTEM

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exclude an erroneous detection of an obstruction caused by a detection error of a vehicle speed sensor or a rudder sensor and to detect a cubic object by a single-lens camera with a high accuracy.

SOLUTION: This system creates a top view of a first image containing a road surface imaged by an on-board camera, and a top view of a second image captured at a different timing from the first image. The system complies the two top views with each other depending on a characteristic shape on the road surface and recognizes a region having a difference in an overlapped portion of the two top views as an obstruction.
