<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quantum infrared sensor capable of detecting infrared rays with a high sensibility by a quantum effect in a high degree, and capable of being operated under temperature conditions close to a room temperature. <P>SOLUTION: The quantum infrared sensor has a meso-porous body 11 having a central pore diameter of 1.5 to 5.0 nm, and metallic oxides 12 having a refractive index within a range of 1.7 to 2.1 to a light having a wavelength of 3 to 15 μm arrayed in the pores of the meso-porous body 11.
