PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface member for an interior material which is excellent in strength and moisture thermal decomposition resistance while using short fiber using polylactic acid and can be suitably used for the interior material of an automobile. SOLUTION: The surface member for the interior material is formed by needle punch nonwoven fabric using a core-sheath type composite short fiber where a fiber lateral cross section shows a core-sheath shape, a core part is constituted of polylactic acid, a sheath part is constituted of aromatic polyester having higher melting point than polylactic acid. The core-sheath composite short fiber is a suitable one where the core part and the sheath are concentrically disposed and mechanical crimp is given. Polylactic acid of the core part is made from L-lactic acid and/or D-lactic acid, and it is suitable for having the melting point of 120°C or more and the heat of melting of 10 J/g or more. It is suitable that the sheath part is constituted of aromatic polyester wherein not less than 70 mol.% of total acid component is aromatic dicarboxylic acid component. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
