For stabilizing a stand to mount a display, the stand includes a base support member (BSM) having a center portion (CP) with a circular recess formed about an axis perpendicular to the BSM. A swivel member (SM) removably coupled to the CP is rotatably movable about the axis and within the circular recess. A linking member (LM) removably coupled to the CP, is frictionally coupled to the SM. The LM is rotatably movable in response to a rotational motion of the SM. An extensible member (EM) removably coupled to the CP is frictionally coupled to the LM. The rotational motion of the SM is transferred by the LM to cause a linear motion of the EM. The linear motion of the EM increases a virtual base boundary formed by the EM and the BSM thereby improving the stability of the stand.
